Bill Summary

This bill would implement measures to address GenX and other emerging contaminants. This bill would allow the Governor the ability to require a facility to cease all operations and activities if the facility meets certain requirements.

The bill would also require companies to provide replacement water supplies for households with drinking water wells contaminated by emergins contaminants.

The bill requests $450,000 to the Cape Fear Public utility Authortiy to test the treatment of techniques to address GenX.

The bill would require DEQ to develop a plan for remediation of water contaminated with GenX.

The bill would direct DHHS to consult with federal agencies to coordinate faculty expertise within higher education institutions across NC to establish health goals for GenX.

The bill provides $530,839 in recurring funds to establish a Water Health and Safety Unit in DHHS. The bill provides $1,300,000 for DEQ.

The bill would require NPDES permit holder to submit documentation of pollutants identified at the time of permit application.
