SB 583 – Occupational Therapy/Physical Therapy Salaries

This bill would improve the salaries of occupational and physical therapists who are public school employees.
This bill would give occupational and physical therapists the salary schedule for teachers who are classified as “A” teachers plus an additional percentage to be determined as follows:
- 0-9 years – 35 percent
- 10-19 years – 40 percent
- 20+ years – 45 percent
This bill also appropriates from the General Fund to the NC Department of Public Instruction the sum of $3 million in recurring funds to be deposited in allotments currently supporting occupational and physical therapists who are public school employees in order to implement the provisions in this act.
