Appropriate Warning of Health Risks with Ultraviolet Exposure

RESOLVED, That the North Carolina Medical Society supports state inspection of all public tanning facilities and enforcement action against facilities that are in violation of all federal and state safety standards; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the North Carolina Medical Society supports physician notification to patients of the dangers of UV exposure from tanning facilities; and be it further

RESOLVED, That the North Carolina Medical Society supports physician report (with the patient’s permission) or direct patient report of injuries received from tanning beds to the Radiation Protection Division of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.
