Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Purchasing

The North Carolina Medical Society and several state and county medical societies, as well as North Carolina Manufacturing Extension Partnership (NCMEP), are working together to offer North Carolina physicians the opportunity to purchase Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).

The world-wide demand for PPE is enormous and the supply tight. Federal, state, local government agencies, and hospital orders are given priority by many suppliers. This effort is intended to provide physician practices with the PPE they need at this critical time. We want to help keep you safe, your staff and patients safe and your offices open. To make this response work, VOLUME and QUICK COMMITMENT are needed. PPE supply and prices are changing by the hour.

Option 1: Group Purchasing – Medical Grade, primarily Foreign Sources

NCMS has established a relationship with the Charleston County (South Carolina) Medical Society and other state and local medical societies to group purchase medical grade products, primarily from foreign sources.

Option 2: Group Purchasing – Medical and Non-Medical Grade, primarily NC Manufacturers

Via our colleagues at the NC Department of Commerce, the NCMS is working with the North Carolina Manufacturing Extension Partnership (NCMEP), a network of North Carolina organizations that provide custom solutions and services to small and medium-sized manufacturers to improve production processes, upgrade technological capabilities and facilitate product innovation. NCMEP,  the official North Carolina representative of the MEP National Network™,  helps their diverse network of manufacturing clients save time and energy, improve productivity, increase sales, improve profits and create and retain jobs. NCMS, working with NCMEP is able to provide our members access to NC distributors and manufacturers, particularly those re-tooling their production facilities to manufacture PPE. Some of these goods are medical grade and some are not. The NCMS will work NCMEP to match your needs with NC manufacturers, so that group purchases can be made.
