Slate of NCMS Candidates for Upcoming Election

Voting in the upcoming NCMS election for our society’s leadership begins Friday, October 1. The process is easy. You just need to make sure your NCMS membership and email address is up-to-date. You can renew your membership here. If you need to update your email address, please send it to our membership services department here.

You will receive your secure ballot and vote via email. For those without email access, we will mail a paper ballot. Voting will close on Oct. 15 and those elected will be announced the following day, Oct. 16, at the NCMS Annual Business Meeting at our LEAD Health Care Conference. Learn more about the conference and register here.

NCDHHS Hires First Chief Health Equity Officer and Launches New Office of Health Equity

On Monday, September 20, the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) announced the hiring of Victor Armstrong as the Department’s first ever Chief Health Equity Officer. NCDHHS created the position as well as the Office of Health Equity to lead its focus to advance health equity and reduce disparities in opportunity and outcomes for historically marginalized populations.

As Chief Health Equity Officer, Armstrong will serve as a member of the Department’s executive leadership team and will lead the Department’s overarching strategy and operational goals to promote health equity, diversity, and inclusion across all DHHS health and human services.

COVID-19 Booster Readiness Webcast: Friday, October 1, 2:00-3:00 p.m. ET

HRSA and CDC will provide guidance for health centers on boosters for older adults and those at high risk of severe COVID-19. HRSA Chief of Staff Jordan Grossman will be introducing CDC speakers who will cover booster guidance, best practices to prepare for flu season, and vaccine co-administration.
