Congratulations to the 2021 NCMS Photo Contest Winner

The beautiful image above, taken by Greenville radiologist Karl Chiang, MD, is the overall winner of our member photo contest this year. His photo, “Bodie Reflection,” will grace the cover of our NCMS 2021 calendar. Congratulations, Dr. Chiang!

This year 47 photographers participated in the contest. Each photo will be featured in social media posts and on our website in the coming days, so watch for the other stunning images by your colleagues. As much else during the pandemic, this year’s calendar will be published online in a format you can easily download and print or have as your computer screen saver – a different picture for each month.

And kudos to the winners in the other categories!

New NCPHP Video Offers Overview

A new video features NC Professional Health Plan (NCPHP) CEO Joseph P. Jordan, PhD, offering a quick 3-minute overview of the work and philosophy of the organization.

The NCPHP team assists health care providers with substance use disorders, mental health issues, burnout, communication problems and other issues that may affect their ability to deliver optimal care and services to their patients. The expert evaluation, monitoring, and treatment referral programs NCPHP offers also provide the basis upon which they advocate for participants to their employers, partners, hospitals, insurance panels, and licensing boards.

NCMB Launches Podcast

The NC Medical Board (NCMB) recently launched its new podcast, MedBoard Matters. This monthly podcast will be hosted by NCMB Communications Director Jean Fisher-Brinkley and will address topics of interest to physicians and PAs as well as patients.

In a 2-minute introductory podcast, Fisher-Brinkley promises the podcast will address what could be dry topics in an ‘enjoyable and easily digestible format’ – even topics you might not even know you’re interested in yet, she says. Initial subjects include suicide prevention, telemedicine, the NCMB’s complaint process and signing death certificates.
