Macon County Volunteers Needed for Free Pharmacy Event

NC MedAssist, which provides needed medications to those not able to afford them, in conjunction with Carolina Complete Health is holding an ‘over-the-counter’ free pharmacy event Thursday, Oct. 11 at the Macon County Community Facilities Building in Franklin. They are expecting upwards of 500 people to attend the free event, and are in desperate need of volunteers. If you, your staff, friends, neighbors or others in your community live in Franklin or surrounding communities, please consider donating some of your time to help this worthy cause.

Here is when the volunteers are needed:

  • Wednesday, Oct. 10 is Set Up Day: At least 10 volunteers are needed between 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. to help with unloading the OTC drugs from the truck, setting up tables/chairs, putting out medicine and basically getting the venue ready for event day, on Thursday, Oct. 11.
  • Thursday, Oct. 11 — 50 volunteers needed to staff the event between 7 a.m. and 3 p.m. Volunteers may work all day or in 2-3 hour shifts. Help with various tasks is needed including  OTC shopping for participants.
