Summary

This bill seeks to increase the punishment for discharging or attempting to discharge a firearm at or into an unoccupied emergency vehicle and also increases the punishment for pointing a laser device at a law enforcement officer or other emergency personnel when that person is engaged in the performance of his or her duties.

This bill would make the act of willfully or wantonly discharging or attempting to discharge a firearm at or into any unoccupied emergency vehicle a Class H felony and would make the act of intentionally pointing a laser at law enforcement while that person is in the performance of his or her duties a Class I felony.
