HB 914 – Enhance Suicide Prevention Awareness and Services

This bill would require the NC Department of the Health and Human Services (DHHS) to establish and administer a statewide suicide prevention program for first responders and veterans. The bill would appropriate funds to the DHHS, Division of Mental Health, Developmental Disabilities and Substance Abuse Services for the establishment and administration of the statewide suicide prevention program.
This bill also would provide a space on the income tax return for individuals to make donations to support this program. This bill also would establish a veterans reintegration task force to develop a statewide action plan for assisting active duty service members, veterans and their families.
This bill has been referred to the House Appropriations Committee.
