ncms-foundation-giving-tuesdayThe North Carolina Medical Society (NCMS) Foundation has joined #GivingTuesday, this year on Nov. 29, the Tuesday after Thanksgiving. After Black Friday and Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday is a day to give back. Throughout the world on that day individuals are encouraged to harness their collective power of philanthropy, celebrate generosity and inspire people to collaborate to improve their local communities by giving to the charities and causes they support.
By giving to the NCMS Foundation you are helping physicians, physician assistants and nurse practitioners care for our state’s sickest and most economically disadvantaged people in health care clinics that see well over 50 percent Medicare, Medicaid and uninsured patients through our Community Practitioner Program. Some of the communities served have been hard hit by flooding due to Hurricane Matthew.  Our goal is to raise $14,000 between Nov. 29 and Dec. 31 to improve access to health care in North Carolina. Fourteen thousand dollars supports one primary care physician, physician assistant or nurse practitioner in a rural or underserved community for one year.
We hope that you will consider not only giving to support the Foundation, but also ways you might serve these devastated communities on #GivingTuesday. To learn more about this global initiative, please visit the #GivingTuesday website here.
