Winners of the NCMS' First Annual Scientific Poster Session Named

poster-sessionFor the first time this year at its Annual Meeting the North Carolina Medical Society (NCMS) and the Durham Orange County Medical Society held a Scientific Poster Session for medical students, residents and fellows. The session highlights the belief that the science of medicine, innovation and discovery are at the core of the NCMS mission.

NCMS Director of Member Services Emily Deese worked to organize the contest, in conjunction with its sponsor Durham Orange County Medical Society. Members of this county society also served as judges of the 57 posters submitted. The winners of the contest in each category are:

Resident/Fellow — Clinical Case study: 

First Prize:  Megan Rau, MD, MPH, Wake Forest University

Honorable Mention: Mirabelle Sajisevi, MD, Duke University

Honorable Mention: Kaitlin Rawluk, MD, MPH, University of North Carolina—Chapel Hill

Resident/Fellow — Basic Research:

First Prize:  Stephen Keller, MD, Carolinas Medical Center

Honorable Mention: Allison Staley, MD, MPH  University of North Carolina—Chapel Hill

Medical Student:

First Prize: Caitlin Sacha, Duke University

Second Prize: Justin Morse, University of North Carolina—Chapel Hill

Honorable Mention: Olga Pylaeva, Brody School of Medicine—East Carolina University

Honorable Mention: Nasarachi Onyenku, Wake Forest University
