It’s Up to You—Let Your Legislator Know You Support Override of SB 33 Veto
Sometime next week, between Monday, July 25 and Thursday, July 28, the NC House of Representatives will vote to override the Governor’s veto of Senate Bill 33 – Medical Liability Reforms. You—along with your family, colleagues, medical office staff, and patients—still have time to contact your Representative by phone, fax and email, in Raleigh or in their home district, and urge them to override the veto. Timing is critical, so please act today!
Next week’s vote follows a strategic campaign that sent NCMS Staff across the state to meet with physicians. Town Hall meetings were held this week in Charlotte, Hickory, Fayetteville, New Bern and Rockingham. NCMS staff briefed physicians on the override process and the urgent need to contact their lawmakers. More than 1,000 physicians participated in the Town Hall meetings, Tele-Town Hall Meetings, and individual meetings with legislators.
When contacting your legislator, be brief and include how they can contact you. Legislative office numbers and addresses can be found at www.ncleg.net. Click the “Who Represents Me” tab using the 9-digit Zip Code on your NC driver’s license.
A very close vote is expected when the veto override is taken up by the House. Make the call, send the E-Mail, and help to make a difference!
