Seeking Health Care Leaders

Leadership College and Health Care Leadership and Management (HCLM), two programs of the North Carolina Medical Society (NCMS) Foundation’s Kanof Institute for Physician Leadership (KIPL) are now accepting applications, but please apply soon. Spots are reserved for North Carolina specialty and county medical societies and since classes are kept small to ensure meaningful interaction between participants, the programs fill up quickly.

Graduates of the award-winning programs say the program has helped them better understand and assume leadership roles in their own practices and in organized medicine. Networking opportunities abound.

Holly Biola, MD, MPH, FAAFP, the current president of the Durham Orange County Medical Society, is a class of 2011 Leadership College alumna. She appreciated the wide range of perspectives the experience offered.

“I met a wonderful mentor and friend. Participating in the Leadership College gave me the opportunity to meet, and hear the perspectives of, leaders in other specialties. Being able to call upon these people as acquaintances and friends has helped me professionally as well as giving me folks to visit and reconnect with at NCMS meetings.”

To learn more about each of these popular courses and to apply visit the KIPL website. Questions? Please contact Kristina Natt och Dag, tnattochdag@ncmedsoc.org.
