NCMS Flu Shot Clinic Campaign

In an effort to increase immunization rates and encourage preventive health, the North Carolina Medical Society is partnering with North Carolina health plans to offer physicians the opportunity to host flu shot clinics in physician offices this fall. Joining the NCMS in this effort, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina (BCBSNC) is renewing its "Stick It to the Flu" campaign encouraging patients statewide to get their free flu shot from their primary care physician. Wellpath/Coventry Health Plans is also working with NCMS to promote increased flu immunization in physician offices for their patients. These insurance carriers have contracted with Maxim Healthcare to conduct these clinics providing nursing staff and flu vaccine while supplies last. Maxim clinics will provide flu shots to everyone nine years and older and children between the ages of nine and seventeen accompanied by an adult, but will not provide pediatric flu shots.

If you are interested in hosting a Maxim clinic, please carefully review the attached documents for each health plan, which include a registration form and detailed information describing program logistics and physician office responsibilities for the respective health plans. The physician site must be able to guarantee a minimum of 30 flu shots will be administered.

Maxim will schedule these clinics on a first-come, first-serve basis. The clinic request must be made at least two weeks in advance. All registration forms must be received by Maxim no later than September 30, 2007. For physicians with multiple offices, one registration form must be completed for each site.
