The NC Medical Board held a public hearing on June 30 to receive input on its proposed rule related to physician profiles. The profiles will include medical malpractice information. The rules have been controversial because they propose to include all medical malpractice payments, even though the Board knows which payments are connected to poor medical care and could easily omit payments that might mislead the public. The proposal prompted dozens of speakers to attend the hearing and voice their concerns. NCMS has posted video of some of those speakers on YouTube, which you may view in clicps below, to give our members a sense of the commentary provided at the hearing. Videos can also be viewed by logging onto www.youtube.com and enter the search phrase NC Physician Profiles. We did not post video of all speakers supporting the NCMS position, but those that were omitted were equally compelling. Please send your feedback on this testimony to NCMS general counsel Stephen Keene at skeene@ncmedsoc.org.
