Leadership

G. Hadley Callaway, MD, President

G. Hadley Callaway, MD, is a Harvard Medical School graduate specializing in orthopaedic surgery and sports medicine. An active member of the North Carolina Medical Society, Dr. Callaway has served on the Board since 2002 and has also served on several committees, including the Sports Medicine Committee, the Nominating and Leadership Development Committee, the North Carolina Industrial Commission Liaison Committee, and the Task Force on Office Surgery.

Dr. Callaway lives in Raleigh with his wife, Cameron Hargrave Smith, and his three children, Darden, Sherwood, and Lee.




Albert Osbahr, MD, President-Elect

Albert J. Osbahr, MD, resides in Hickory, North Carolina with his wife, Beth, and two sons, where he serves as the Medical Director at the Catawba Valley Medical Center, Occupational Health Services. In addition, he works as Corporate Medical Director at Blue Ridge Paper Corporation and as a Medical Consultant/Lab Director at the Haywood County Health Department.

Dr. Osbahr graduated from the UNC-CH Medical School with a primary speciality in Occupational Medicine and a secondary specialty in Family Medicine/Preventive Medicine. He has a long history of serving in organized medicine and currently holds a position as a member of the Council on Science and Public Health at the AMA in addition to his position on the Board at the NC Medical Society. He also serves on several committees at the NC Medical Society, such as the NC Industrial Commission Liaison Committee and the Family and Public Health Committee.

John R. Mangum, MD, Secretary/Treasurer

John R. Mangum, MD, was elected Secretary/Treasurer during the 150th House of Delegates in November 2004. He previously served as an At-Large Member of the NCMS Board of Directors.

Dr. Mangum graduated from the University of North Carolina School of Medicine in 1981, specializing in family medicine. He currently practices at Sanford Medical Group; he and his wife, Eleanor, also reside in Sanford.








Douglas Sheets, MD, Speaker

Douglas D. Sheets, MD, Speaker of the House of Delegates, has been a member of the North Carolina Medical Society for over 20 years. A Rutherfordton, NC-based OB-GYN, Dr. Sheets graduated from the Indiana University School of Medicine and spent his residency in St. Petersburg, Florida, at the Bayfront Medical Center. He has served as the Chief of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Chief of Staff at Rutherford Hospital, where he remains on active staff. Committed to organized medicine, Dr. Sheets served as the president of the Rutherford County Medical Society for 16 years and has participated with the NCMS as Councilor, Vice Councilor, Commissioner, At-Large Member of the Executive Committee, and on several committees.

Dr. Sheets and his wife, Kay, have three children.


Michael P. Moulton, MD, Vice Speaker

Vice Speaker Michael Moulton, MD, is an emergency room physician at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilimington. He received his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center, San Antonio, and spent his residency at The Medical College of Pennsylvania, Department of Emergency Medicine in Philadelphia, PA. An active member of organized medicine, Dr. Moulton served as President of the New Hanover/Pender Medical Society in 2005, has been an alternate delegate to the AMA since 2001, and has been a member of the AMA since his medical student years.

Dr. Moulton lives with his wife, Frankie, and his young son and infant daughter in Wilmington.




Darlyne Menscer, MD, Immediate Past President

President Darlyne Menscer, MD, has previously served as Speaker of the House of Delegates from 2001-2005 and is recognized as the first female to hold that position within the Society.

Dr. Menscer resides in Charlotte with her husband, Farnum Gray, Jr., and is currently a Clinical Associate Professor with the Department of Family Medicine at the University of North Carolina. She specializes in geriatric education.

Dr. Menscer was born and raised in North Carolina and attended medical school at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill. She completed her residency at Charlotte Memorial Hospital and Medical Center and a geriatric fellowship at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine in Chapel Hill. She has been an active member of the NC Medical Society, the American Medical Association, and the Mecklenberg County Medical Society for many years.

Robert W. Seligson, Executive Vice President/CEO

Robert W. Seligson (Bob) is Executive Vice President/CEO of the North Carolina Medical Society, the largest and oldest professional association in the state with more than 11,500 members. As Executive Vice President/CEO, Mr. Seligson directs a variety of advocacy efforts designed to serve the physician community in North Carolina, including his designation as Chief Executive Officer of the N.C. Medical Society Foundation. He became Executive Vice President/CEO of the Society in May 1994. Prior to his arrival in North Carolina, Mr. Seligson served as the Deputy Executive Vice President of the Florida Medical Association, one of the largest medical associations in the nation. He served Florida physicians in several executive roles, specializing in medical economics, health policy, and legislative issues. Because of the strong presence in Florida of national managed care companies, he has extensive experience in working with physicians in complex managed care environments. Mr. Seligson lives in Raleigh with his wife, Donna, and their two children.
