Legislative Advocacy Days

Attend the Legislative Advocacy "White Coat Wednesdays" Program in 2010!

NC Pediatric Society members meet with Sen. Purcell
Speaker Joe Hackney (center) visits with members of the NC Orthopaedic Association and the NCMS PA Section.

Legislative Advocacy Days are your chance to learn more about the ins-and-outs of the government affairs and how best to approach your legislator regarding health care issues. The NCMS will hold a briefing in the morning with tips on "dos and don'ts" in relaying your message to your legislator and on the hot-button medical and patient issues currently in the spotlight at the General Assembly.

Following this briefing, head down with NCMS staff members to the General Assembly and meet one-on-one with your legislator; take part in committee meetings and see the General Assembly in action; and begin building relationships with your legislators for the future.

Bring your organization!
Pick a day to organize a group — such as other physicians from your community or your specialty colleagues from around the state — to participate together. The 2010 Short Session of the General Assembly starts May 12, 2010. Get a jump on the year and contact Jaime King to schedule your group's White Coat Wednesday, jking@ncmedsoc.org, 919-833-3836 ext. 130 or download the WCW registration form/flyer.

Be sure to wear your white coat for greater visibility and recognition down at the legislature!
