NCMS Calendar Photographer Gets Statewide Recognition

Congratulations to Kathryn Greven, MD, a radiation oncologist of Winston-Salem, for her recent accomplishment in photography.  “Sunset at Price Lake,” a photo of Bowling Rock, NC has been selected for exhibition at The Turchin Center for the Visual Arts at Appalachian State University.

Dr. Greven has competed several times in the annual North Carolina Medical Society (NCMS) calendar photo contest.  This past year, her photo won publication in the 2014 member calendar for the month of January.

“What I love about photography is being able to share special moments that I am able to witness; whether it is a lovely scene with the light in just the right place or whether it is an event or emotion,” Dr. Greven explained.   As far as inspiration is concerned, she is “inspired by the beauty of nature and life itself.  I love to capture moments in time that may be fleeting and may not have been seen or appreciated by other people.”

You do not have to travel all the way to the mountains for a glimpse at Dr. Greven’s photo.  In addition to gallery exhibition, the photo has been published in the April 2014 edition of statewide magazine Our State.  According to the magazine, the photo was selected as one that best captured the flora, landscapes, characters and pursuits of Appalachia.

Congratulations again to Dr. Greven.  Keep up the great work.
