Family physicians William Conner, MD, of Matthews, and Steven Landau, MD, of Smithfield, were in Haiti treating patients at separate clinics. Dr. Conner worked at a site located about 20 miles south of Port-Au-Prince, which sustained the bulk of the earthquake damage. Reporter Franco Ordonez wrote about Dr. Conner’s relief work in The Charlotte Observer and The News and Observer.
Dr. Landau spent the week treating victims at the AMURT-Haiti Clinic. In an email received earlier in the week, Dr. Landau reported he was doing well, and that a clinic had been organized to treat patients injured in the earthquake. Dr. Landau expects to return home this weekend and plans to organize a return trip in the near future. Physicians, PAs and others who might be interested in helping at the AMURT clinic can contact Dr. Landau at firstname.lastname@example.org, or by phone at 919-868-4729.
