CAPG, an association representing physician groups, along with the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS), is offering a new complimentary webinar series for physicians and physician groups participating in the Quality Payment Program, part of the Medicare Access and CHIP Reauthorization Act (MACRA). The sessions combine CMS expertise on the regulation content with clinicians offering how they are responding on the ground to the changes. The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) will discuss Medicare Diabetes Prevention Program Model Expansion on Dec. 5 from 1:30 to 3 p.m. The CY 2018 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule final rule includes the expansion of the Medicare Diabetes Prevention Program (MDPP) Model starting in 2018. The NC Council of Community Programs “Emerging Horizon Conference” will be held Dec. 6-8 at the Pinehurst Resort in Pinehurst. The conference will focus on the transition to Medicaid managed care in North Carolina and will address a range of topics including value-based care, social determinants of health and the opioid abuse crisis. MAHEC, working with the North Carolina Academy of Family Physicians, The Governor’s Institute on Substance Abuse and Project Lazarus: A Project of CCNC, is offering A Guide to Rational Opioid Prescribing for Chronic Pain, an online education course. The course is designed for all prescribing health care practitioners who are interested in an overview of the rational prescribing approaches for persons with chronic pain disorders. It will fulfill the North Carolina Medical Board’s requirement of at least one hour of continuing education designed specifically to address prescribing practices for chronic pain management. CMS is offering a new Accredited Online Course – the Quality Payment Program in 2017: Merit-based Incentive Payment System Advanced Payment Models. This self-paced overview course is now available through the MLN Learning Management System. Learners Participants will receive information on: Merit-based Incentive Payment System (MIPS) Alternative Payment Models (APM); how to recognize who is a participant in a MIPS APM; benefits of the special APM scoring standard for MIPS APM participants and criteria for reporting on performance. First time participants will need to register for the MLN Learning Management System.
