The Update in Joint Reconstruction Surgery Symposium will take place October 3 – 5, 2014 at the Marriott Harbor Beach in Fort Lauderdale, Florida.  Program Directors Dr. Wael Barsoum and Dr. Juan C. Suarez would like to encourage NCMS members to attend to hear some of the best orthopedic physicians from Cleveland Clinic and the CORE Institute as well as other invited faculty. There are just two weeks left to register at the early rates for NCHICA’s 20th Annual Conference & Exhibition, scheduled for October 5-8, 2014 at the Grandover Resort in Greensboro, NC.  The theme of this year’s conference is 20 Years of Health Information Sharing: Realizing the Art of the Possible, and the agenda is packed with over 50 speakers, 3 plenary sessions and 27 breakout sessions on policy, clinical and technology topics. On the final day, October 8, four half-day workshops that may be of interest to NCMS members:

The 19th Annual NC Workers’ Compensation Educational Conference will be held Oct. 8-10 at the Raleigh Convention Center. The North Carolina Medical Society assisted with the conference program, which is designed to educate anyone who participates in the North Carolina workers’ compensation system and will examine the current rules, procedures, policies and forms.

The North Carolina chapter of the Healthcare Financial Management Association will hold their annual Health Insurance Institute on October 23-24 at the Sheraton Hotel at Four Seasons Greensboro. Meeting agenda and registration information.


Registration is now open for the Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina 2014 Provider Summit to be held October 30, 2014 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Raleigh. The program is designed to foster a purposeful dialogue about health care in North Carolina.


Eleventh One Medicine Symposium to be held in Durham, NC on December 10-11, 2014. The theme this year is “Disasters and Diseases: A One Medicine Approach to Current Challenges.” Learn more about this national symposium, aims to promote collaboration across professional disciplines and enhance preparedness for natural or man-made disasters, infectious disease outbreaks, and other challenges affecting human and animal health.
