The Blue Cross Blue Shield Foundation of North Carolina (BCBSNC) announced this week a $1.8 million grant to the NC Academy of Family Physicians (NCAFP) for a mentoring program to help address the shortage of family physicians in North Carolina. Projections show that the state will need 4,700 family physicians by 2020.
