Early Childhood Action Plan Ready for Comment

Last August Governor Roy Cooper issued an executive order calling on the state’s Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) to develop an action plan setting goals and outlining strategies to “ensure the state’s 1.1 million children from birth through age eight are healthy, safe and nurtured, learning and ready to succeed.”

A draft of the action plan, developed by DHHS in collaboration with the NC Early Childhood Advisory Council appointed by Governor Cooper and in extensive consultation with experts and stakeholders from across the state, now is available for public comment. Please email your feedback to ECAP@dhhs.nc.gov by Dec. 21, 2018.

If you are interested in learning more about the plan, NCDHHS will hold two hour-long webinars on Nov. 29 at 4 p.m. and Dec. 13 at 4 p.m. You can join the meeting from your computer, tablet or smartphone. (If it’s the first time you’re using GoToMeeting, you can do a system check to make sure it works.) You can also dial in using your phone by calling 646-749-3112. Use the access code 386-755-605.

This article from North Carolina Health News also offers a summary of the plan.
