Richard F. Bruch, MD, President of the NCMS Foundation Board of Trustees, which oversees the CPP, served as emcee. Mott Blair, MD, the first CPP participant, shared stories about life as a country doctor in Wallace, NC.
Presented Awards of Appreciation for their contributions to the CPP were:

E. Ray Cope, Past President, and John H. Frank, Director, Health Care Division, Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust, which provided a $4.5 million grant to start the CPP in 1989
Torlen “Tork” Wade, Executive Director of NC Community Care, NC Foundation for Advanced Health Programs, and representing long-time CPP partner, the NC Office of Rural Health and Community Care
Receiving Special Recognition for their support of the CPP were:
Blue Cross and Blue Shield of North Carolina Foundation, which gave a $10 million grant in 2009 to help establish an endowment fund to continue and expand the CPP, represented by CEO Robert J. Greczyn, Jr.
Golden L.E.A.F. Foundation, which gave $275,000 as part of the capital campaign for the CPP, represented by Program Officer Terry Bryant Adou-Dy
Medical Mutual Insurance Company, which gave $1 million for the capital campaign, represented by CEO A. Dale Jenkins
