Primary Sponsors: Rep. Scott Stone (R-Mecklenburg), Rep. Julia Howard (R-Forsyth), Rep. Pat Hurley (R-Randolph)

Bill Movement

The bill was filed on May 31, 2018.

This bill was referred to the House Judiciary III Committee on June 1, 2018.

Bill Summary

This bill would provide financial protections against unwarrented discharge and unjustified increases in costs for NC seniors residing in adult care homes. The bill would only allow a physician sign off on a discharge for a patient. Current law allows for a physician, physician assistant, or nurse practitioner to sign off for discharge from an adult care home. In addition, this bill would appropriate $90,000 in funds to DHHS, Health Service Regulation, for additional staff positions to enforce statutory protections for adult care home residents.
