AMA Letter Targets Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB) Provision of HR 3590

This week, the AMA released a letter sent to Speaker Nancy Pelosi of the US House of Representatives expressing opposition to the Independent Payment Advisory Board (IPAB) provision in HR 3590, the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. If enacted, physicians would be subject to “two separate expenditure targets,” according to the letter, which referred to the IPAB and the SGR, the Medicare physician payment formula.  Read the letter on the NCMS Health Reform Page: www.ncmedsoc.org/healthreform.
