NCMS and Public Health Issues
The NCMS supports a number of important public health issues that are having an impact on North Carolina patients and patient care.
Through the NC Partnership for Compassionate Care, the NCMS has worked to develop and pass legislation that promotes patient self-determination at the end of life. These efforts have resulted in the creation and recognition of advance directives (such as the MOST form and the DNR form) that enable patients to express their end of life wishes.
Prescription Drug Abuse Prevention
Now officially recognized as an epidemic by the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, prescription drug abuse is becoming an overwhelming issue that is impacting the State of North Carolina. See how the NCMS is responding to this epidemic and what legislative and public health efforts are underway to combat it.
Patient Resource Center
Patient safety and quality delivery of care are of the utmost importance to the NCMS and its members. The NCMS has pulled together a number of tools for NC patients to better understand issues ranging from health reform to medical conditions.
