This bill would change the composition of the 911 Board and increase it from 17 to 20 members.
The Governor would be responsible for appointing five members instead of four. The fifth individual would be someone who is currently managing a Public Safety Answering Point (PSAP), appointed under the recommendation of the NC Emergency Management Association from the Central Branch.
The Speaker of the House would be responsible for appointing seven members instead of six. The sixth individual would be someone who is currently managing a PSAP, appointed under the recommendation of the NC Emergency Management Association from the Western Branch.
The Speaker Pro Tempore would be responsible for appointing seven members instead of six. The sixth individual would be someone who is currently managing a PSAP, appointed under the recommendation of the NC Emergency Management Association from the Eastern Branch.

This bill was referred to the House Finance Committee on April 6, 2017. If it is found favorable there, it would move to House Rules, Calendar, and Operations Committee.
The bill was withdrawn from these committees and re-referred to the House Committee on Pensions and Retirement on June 14, 2017.
